Bafang connectors
Bafang motors (BBS01, BBS02, BBSHD) use HIGO connectors as the OEM standard. This page explains which HIGO series are installed, which extensions and spare parts are compatible – and where to buy them.
Why does Bafang use HIGO connectors?
Bafang (Suzhou Bafang Electric Motor Science Technology Co., Ltd.) is the world's best-selling manufacturer of e-bike mid-drive systems. The BBS series – BBS01, BBS02 and BBSHD – consistently uses HIGO Mini-B and Mini-C connectors as cable connections between motor, display, brakes, throttle and battery.
HIGO connectors are not only used by Bafang – they are the OEM standard for the entire Chinese e-bike industry. This means: extensions, adapters and replacement connectors from ETshop fit directly without modification.
Which HIGO connectors are used in Bafang motors?
The Bafang BBS series uses different HIGO series and pin counts depending on the connection. The following table provides an overview of the main connections.
| Connection | HIGO series | Pin count | Models |
|---|---|---|---|
| Display (EB-Bus) | Mini-B | 5-pin | BBS01, BBS02, BBSHD |
| Throttle | Mini-B | 3-pin | BBS01, BBS02, BBSHD |
| Brake sensor | Mini-B | 2-pin | BBS01, BBS02, BBSHD |
| Main cable (1T4) | Mini-B | 8-pin | BBS01, BBS02, BBSHD |
| Light / accessories | Mini-B | 2-pin | BBS01, BBS02, BBSHD |
| Motor cable (signal) | Mini-C | 3–6-pin | BBS02, BBSHD |
The connector types are standardised, but the pin assignment (wire colour coding) may vary depending on the production year and market version. When in doubt, always check the pin assignment before purchasing or contact us.
When are connectors or cables needed for Bafang?
Frame replacement
After a frame replacement, existing cable lengths are often too short. HIGO Mini-B extension cables in custom lengths (100–10,000 mm) allow clean adaptations without soldering.
Defective connector
Broken or corroded connectors do not require replacing the entire cable. HIGO Mini-B connectors are available individually and can be soldered directly onto the wire.
Conversion & DIY build
In DIY builds with a Bafang motor, HIGO connectors are used as connections between controller, display and peripherals. All pin counts and lengths in stock.
Bafang models and compatible HIGO products
The following overview shows which Bafang models are fitted with HIGO connectors and which ETshop products fit directly.
Bafang BBS01 / BBS01B
Entry-level mid-drive motor. Uses HIGO Mini-B 5-pin (display), 3-pin (throttle), 2-pin (brake). Standard extensions fit directly.
Throttle: Mini-B 3-pin
Brake: Mini-B 2-pin
Bafang BBS02 / BBS02B
Best-selling Bafang motor. Identical connector configuration to BBS01. Fully compatible with HIGO Mini-B extensions and connectors.
Throttle: Mini-B 3-pin
Brake: Mini-B 2-pin
Bafang BBSHD
High-performance mid-drive motor. Same HIGO Mini-B connectors as BBS01/BBS02. For heavy cargo bikes, e-cargo and off-road e-bikes.
Throttle: Mini-B 3-pin
Brake: Mini-B 2-pin

FAQ – Bafang connectors & cables
All three Bafang models (BBS01, BBS02, BBSHD) use HIGO Mini-B connectors as the OEM standard. The display connects via a 5-pin Mini-B, the throttle via 3-pin, brake sensors via 2-pin. The main cable (1T4 wiring harness) uses an 8-pin HIGO connection.
Yes – HIGO Mini-B extension cables fit directly to all Bafang BBS models without adapters or modification. The key is to choose the correct pin count: 5-pin for display, 3-pin for throttle, 2-pin for brake sensors and lights.
The 1T4 wiring harness (also called EB-Bus harness) is the central connection cable of the Bafang system. It runs from the 8-pin HIGO main connector on the motor to four outputs: display (5-pin), throttle (3-pin) and two brake sensors (2-pin each). If damaged or too short, the harness can be replaced with a compatible HIGO-based cable.
Yes – all three models use the same HIGO Mini-B connectors with the same pin counts. Extensions and replacement connectors for the BBS02 therefore also fit the BBS01 and BBSHD.
ETshop (e-bike-technologies.de) stocks the complete HIGO range for Bafang systems – Mini-B connectors in all pin counts, extension cables in custom lengths (100–10,000 mm) and adapters. Delivery to all EU countries and worldwide.
Bafang BBS01 and BBS02 primarily use HIGO Mini-B for all standard connections (display, throttle, brake). Mini-C is used on some Bafang models for specific signal connections. The two series are not compatible – always check the exact series of the existing connector before purchasing.
